Her name is Wendy Susan Rossmeyer. She was born in the 1960s in New York. And here is the detail that sets up her whole life: she booked her first modelling job at just 14 years old, for Vogue.

Think about that. Fourteen. Most kids that age are worried about homework. She was working for one of the biggest magazines on earth.

Her story has two full careers in it, three daughters, and a family business she stepped into after a sudden tragedy. That is a lot for one life.

But here is the problem. Almost every article about Wendy Rossmeyer buries her in a section called “Grace Van Patten’s parents.” A paragraph, maybe two. Then it moves on to her husband’s credits.

That misses the real story, and we are not going to do that here.

In this article, we will cover her family background, her modelling years, her small acting roles, her marriage to Tim, her three daughters, the Harley-Davidson business, the famous Van Patten family, and what is actually verified about her.

    Who Is Wendy Rossmeyer?

Wendy Rossmeyer’s full name is Wendy Susan Rossmeyer. Since marrying, she has also gone by Wendy Rossmeyer Van Patten. Both names show up in print, so do not let that confuse you.

She was born in the 1960s. That is as specific as the public record gets, and we will come back to why.

She is American. She was born in New York, but her family later moved to Florida. That move mattered more than anyone knew at the time.

So what has she actually done? Two things, in two very different worlds.

First, she was a fashion model. She worked through the 1970s and the 1980s, back when magazine covers were the main way anyone got famous.

    Wendy Rossmeyer’s Early Life

Here is a question with an honest answer: nobody knows exactly how old Wendy Rossmeyer is.

Her father was not a quiet man in a quiet job. Bruce Rossmeyer built a Harley-Davidson dealership empire from the ground up. He was a real force in the motorcycle world.

The family started out in New York, where Wendy was born. Later they relocated to Florida, which is where the Rossmeyer business grew.

So picture the setup. A New York girl, a Florida move, and a father building a motorcycle business while she was growing up.

None of that sounds like the start of a modelling career. But that is exactly what happened next.

    Her Modelling Career

Wendy Rossmeyer got her first modelling job at 14 years old. The client was Vogue. That is according to the Los Angeles Times.

Let’s sit with that for a second. Vogue is not a starter job. It is the top of the mountain. She started at the top, as a teenager.

From there she worked steadily. Through the 1970s and into the 1980s, she appeared in fashion shows, print advertisements, and magazine covers.

Her biggest known cover came in March 1983. She was the cover model for Seventeen magazine. In the eighties, a Seventeen cover put your face in every drugstore in America.

Then she explained why. “I ride my bike everywhere, play volleyball, tennis and water-ski.”

So she was an athlete first. The body was built by sport, not starvation, and she was not going to apologise for it.

Now look at that quote one more time. I ride my bike everywhere.

She said that in 1987. Decades later, she would be helping run a Harley-Davidson business. The whole thing rhymes, and she had no idea at the time.

    Her Small Acting Roles

Alongside the modelling, Wendy Rossmeyer did a bit of acting. Not much, but it is part of the record.

She had a cameo in Sex and the City. That is a fun one to spot if you are a fan of the show.

She also appeared in the 1982 film Class of 1984. That was during her modelling years, when she was young and working constantly.

Here is a nice coincidence in that credit. Class of 1984 is also on Tim Van Patten’s acting résumé. Before he was a famous director, he was an actor, and that film is one of his early jobs.

So the two of them show up in the same movie years before they married. Whether they crossed paths on it, nobody has said.

Now, a small correction worth making. Some websites say Wendy stepped away from entertainment after marrying Tim Van Patten in 1996.

The timing does not quite work. Sex and the City did not premiere until 1998. So a cameo on that show would have come after the wedding, not before.

Either way, acting was never her main road. Modelling came first, and business came later. The acting was a detour, not the destination.

    Who Is Tim Van Patten?

Then he switched sides, and that is when everything changed. Tim Van Patten became a director, and eventually an Emmy winner.

Look at what he has directed. The Sopranos. The Wire. Game of Thrones. Boardwalk Empire. Black Mirror. Masters of the Air.

That is not a good résumé. That is a list of some of the most acclaimed television ever made, and he worked on a lot of it.

His earlier credits fill in the rest: C.P.W., The Visitor, The Sentinel, New York Undercover, Now and Again, Pasadena, and Keen Eddie.

He has also thought hard about the job. Speaking to the Television Academy Foundation in September 2011, he explained where his directing comes from.

“I think my life experience informs my directing much more than my acting skills,” he said.

Then he added the part that shows why actors like working with him. “I think I know how to put an actor at ease, I don’t know the language, if there is a language, but I think every actor comes to the set with their own needs and then you have to handle them accordingly.”

Wendy Rossmeyer and Tim Van Patten’s Marriage

Wendy Rossmeyer and Tim Van Patten married on May 23, 1996.

Now do the math on that date. Their first daughter, Grace, was born on November 21 of the same year. So the wedding came about six months before the baby.

That marriage is now 30 years old. Three decades, three daughters, and a lot of television in between.

Here is a choice that shaped everything. They raised their family in New York City, not Los Angeles.

That matters more than it sounds. Tim worked on huge shows. He could have moved the family west and lived the industry life full time. They stayed put instead.

Wendy does show up for his work. She and Tim attended a dinner celebrating the global premiere of Franklin in 2024. Back in March 2007, she was at a private screening of the first two episodes of The Sopranos at MoMA in New York.

But notice the pattern. She turns up, stands beside him, and goes home. She has never tried to build a public profile off his career.

That is a quiet kind of confidence. She had her own thing before him, and she would have her own thing again.

    Their Three Daughters

    Their Three Daughters

Wendy Rossmeyer and Tim Van Patten have three daughters. Not one. Not two. Three.

We need to say that clearly, because plenty of websites get it wrong. We will come back to that.

Grace is the eldest. She was born on November 21, 1996, in New York City. She turns 30 this November.

Grace is the famous one. She stars in Tell Me Lies and appeared in Nine Perfect Strangers. Most recently she played the lead in The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox for Hulu.

Anna is two years younger than Grace. She is a model and an actress, so she took a little of both her parents’ paths.

Anna’s credits are solid. She was in the Gossip Girl reboot as Grace Byron. She appeared in FBI: Most Wanted as Cara Jarvis, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as Emilia Barassi, Master as Libby, and The Wisdom Tooth as Braided Girl.

June is the youngest. She was born in 2011, which makes her about 15 now.

June is already working too. She made her acting debut in the 2020 short film Youngest, when she was around nine years old.

Wendy shares them proudly. In September 2021, she posted a photo of all three girls walking hand in hand.

“So blessed,” she wrote. “Happy National Daughters Day!”

Now here is the correction that matters. Several websites list Grace as having just one sibling. One popular article even runs a heading asking “Does Grace Van Patten have a sister?” and names only Anna.

June is missing from those articles entirely. A real teenager, left out of her own family, because someone copied a bad source and nobody checked.

She exists. There are three Van Patten daughters. If a page tells you otherwise, that page is wrong.

Raising the Girls in New York

But here is what surprises people. She did not want to act. Grace told Interview in May 2017 that she was “super into sports” and had no particular pull toward performing.

So who pushed her? Her parents did.

“My parents were the ones who were like, ‘Just audition for LaGuardia,'” Grace recalled.

LaGuardia High School is New York’s famous performing arts school. Wendy and Tim told their sporty teenager to go try out.

“You are being exposed to something that’s pretty freaking cool,” he said. “The world of entertainment and creativity is an addictive thing.”

Grace’s screen debut came earlier, though. She was eight years old, playing Ally Pontecorvo in The Sopranos season 6 episode “Members Only.”

The director of that episode? Her dad.

But she has been clear that he did not make it easy. Speaking to Deadline in October 2022, Grace said her father refused to show any favouritism when she auditioned.

That sounds about right for these two parents. Push your kid to try. Then make her earn it.

    The Harley-Davidson Family Business

Now we get to the part that makes Wendy Rossmeyer’s story genuinely unusual.

Her father, Bruce Rossmeyer, built something big. His Harley-Davidson dealership business grew to 13 dealerships across five different states.

That is not a shop. That is an empire, built by one man.

Then, in 2009, everything changed. Bruce Rossmeyer died in a motorcycle accident.

Think about what that meant. A sudden death. A grieving family. And a large multi-state business that still needed someone to run it.

Wendy stepped in. After her father’s death, she started taking an active part in business decisions involving the family’s dealerships.

Look at where she was at that point. She was a former model in her forties, married to a director, raising kids in New York. She had been out of the working world for years.

And then she went and helped run a motorcycle business.

Grace confirmed it plainly on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast in September 2024. She called her mother a “biker chick,” and then explained what she meant.

“She was a model and now works in her family business, which is Harley Davidson motorcycles,” Grace said.

    The Van Patten Family Tree

Joyce Van Patten is Tim’s half-sister. She built a long, steady television career of her own.

She was a regular on The Danny Kaye Show in the 1960s. Later she appeared in Law & Order, Mannix, The Odd Couple, The Untouchables, Love, American Style, and The Mary Tyler Moore Hour. She was also in The Bad News Bears in 1976.

Vincent Van Patten is Dick’s son, and his path is the strangest of all. He started as a child actor in the 1970s, appearing in Nanny and the Professor, The Courtship of Eddie’s Father, Apple’s Way, and Three for the Road.

Then he became a professional tennis player. Then he moved into professional wagering. He met his wife, actress Eileen Davidson, while working on The Young & the Restless in the early 2000s.

One quick note on accuracy. Several websites call Talia and Vincent “Grace’s cousins.” The real relationships are a step further removed than that. It is a small thing, but these sites print approximations as facts.

What Is Wendy Rossmeyer’s Net Worth?

Her role is in a private family business. Private companies do not publish their books. Nobody outside can see what anyone earns.

Dealership revenue is also not personal wealth. A business can move a lot of money and its owners can still take home a normal salary. And the Rossmeyer business has multiple family members involved, not just Wendy.

Her modelling income is ancient history. That work was in the 1970s and 1980s, and it was never public even then.

So what should you do with any exact number you see online? Ignore it. Somebody made it up.

Here is what we can say instead, and it is better than a number. She has been working since she was 14 years old, in two completely different industries, and she is still working now.

    Interesting Facts About Wendy Rossmeyer

    • She was working at 14. Her first modelling job was for Vogue — most people start at the bottom, she started at the top.
    • She said no to the 1980s beauty standard. In an August 1987 LA Times interview: “I’ll never be really thin. [I have] too much muscle.” That took nerve in that era.
    • The reason was sport. “I ride my bike everywhere, play volleyball, tennis and water-ski.” She was an athlete who modelled, not the other way round.
    • That bike line hits differently now. She said it in 1987. Decades later she’d be helping run a Harley-Davidson business.
    • She was on the cover of Seventeen in March 1983 — which in the eighties meant your face in every drugstore in America.
    • She and her husband appeared in the same 1982 film. Class of 1984 is on both her acting credits and Tim Van Patten’s, years before they married.
    • Her husband isn’t really called Tim. Tim Van Patten’s birth name is Christopher.
    • She married in May 1996 and had Grace that November — six months later.
    • They stayed in New York. Tribeca first, then Brooklyn from 2014. Her husband directed The Sopranos, The Wire, and Game of Thrones and they still didn’t move to LA.
    • Grace never wanted to act. She was “super into sports.” It was her parents who said, “Just audition for LaGuardia.”
    • Her father built an empire. Bruce Rossmeyer’s Harley-Davidson business grew to 13 dealerships across five states.

    Bottom Line

Here is what is verified. Born in New York in the 1960s to Bruce and Patricia Rossmeyer. Vogue at 14. The Seventeen cover in March 1983. Married Tim Van Patten on May 23, 1996. Three daughters — Grace, Anna, and June. Active in the family business since 2009.

Here is what is not. Her exact age. Any net worth figure. And the line about her quitting entertainment the moment she married, which the dates do not support.

The mistake in most other articles is treating her as a paragraph inside her daughter’s story. But Wendy Rossmeyer was working before Tim Van Patten was famous, before Grace was born, before any of it.
